A brand spanking new trailer for Bioshock Infinite has been released, and boy is it a good one. Whilst only lasting for a measly one minute and thirty seconds the trailer does a fantastic job of wetting our appetites for the game, which to be frank is what a trailer is suppose to do. So what are you waiting for, check it out now.

The Sunday before E3, Nintendo had a special online video feature, revealing details about the upcoming WiiU console. Largely, the special focused on the new social capabilities of the console, alongside the revisions the Wii U GamePad (as it is now called) carries with it.

First and foremost, the controller has replaced the Circle Pads with traditional, although clickable, Analog Pads. Whether these analog pads will be remembered or not, as many consoles that have them eventually forget their use in games, they’re there for eventual usage (or disuse). The addition of a Near-Field Communictation spot (something largely unspecified until now) seems designed specifically for such games as an updated Skylanders, or even a Pokemon game in the future. Finally, a “Television” button is one of the oddest, but potentially the most usable; it might be an issue to set up, but once it is, would make the GamePad one of the most-used devices in the house.

A nice surprise of the note was Wii U Controller Pro, a newly-advanced version of the Classic Controller. Independent of remotes, the controller brings the console to the forefront of the multi platform field; while the Wii controllers were perfectly acceptable for multi platform games, the console will be the most powerful of the three at launch, and this traditional controller will make sure that there’s no logistical reason to not include the console in cross-platform titles.

The true focus of the event was the concept of the Miiverse, a social networking system Nintendo’s not attempted to such an extent before. Extending to web, portable devices (iOS and Android are the likeliest, and would be a rare show of support for other developers), and the 3DS itself, it appears to be a true account for social usage; it’s the same Mii across all fields. If Nintendo could tie this theoretically “Universal Mii” into their Nintendo accounts (Club Nintendo, WiiShop, 3DS Shop, and so forth), it’d be a large step towards Nintendo being competent with their online plans.

In an additional video, showing off the social connectivity of the Miiverse, a player uses the Twitter-esque function, takes a phone call, and even video chats with a fellow player. It’s a concept that seems to attempt to replicate what people already have; a computer, a smartphone, or the simple Twitter. Later news updates revealed that these posts will have to be moderated by Nintendo, so might take around 30 minutes to get online. This definitely seems like an issue; some players having to wait 30 minutes before someone can see their request for help, followed by an additional 30 minutes for a response… when you can just go online and find the answer quicker? It limits the use of the system.

Nintendo’s E3-proper showings focused on the games, not revealing any new hardware features, such as the rumored Nintendo 3DSXL. The most notable games appeared to be the ones with the least amount of focus; Project P-100 has gotten a lot of attention for the Wii U, despite only having a few seconds of focus in a multi-game trailer, while a new Fire Emblem game for America was only revealed via Twitter for the 3DS. The New Super Mario Bros. games will be fun, but everyone’s wondering why the 3DS “cash grab” isn’t a Wario Land title. Likewise, Game & Wario seems to be a fun title that eschews the WarioWare elements of previous titles. NintendoLand could be a Mario Party title with Smash Bros. universe elements, but it’s not. Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon will be a solid title, but it’s an odd sequel to a rather forgotten Gamecube title. Pikmin 3 seems to be universally hailed as one of the bright spots of Nintendo’s shows, and Epic Mickey 2 on the 3DS looks to be the most-celebrated third-party title. Other titles such as Mass Effect 3 and Arkham City: Armored Edition are welcome, but seem a little too late to the party; for commentary, who is Mass Effect 3 for? Even if it includes all the DLC, the players who have wanted this title will have beaten it multiple times on other platforms.

Not the strongest showing, and no incredible moments, but it’s solid. The Wii U looks to be a console that’ll survive on it’s own for a while, until third parties fully commit to it.

Yes lady’s and Gentleman the gaming...

Say hello to Halo! Yes lady’s and Gentleman the gaming series that set the benchmark for games is back. This is the eight game in the franchise but has been given the name Halo 4 which makes as much sense as what’s going on in the Halo universe. Halo 4 is the first in the “Reclaimer Trilogy” which the new developers of the game, 343 industry, are making.

With the first demo of the game showing at Microsofts E3 conference, it is safe to say that 343 have done a good job in not complete screwing up the Halo series, we can’t however say if this statement is correct for the whole game though as we only saw about 7 minutes of a level. The level that was shown at E3 showed Master Chief in the midst of a jungle and on his way to track a crashed spaceship, so far so Halo.

All the usual Halo guns and equipment are back including Cortana, talking of, there are rumours that this game could be the last for her as in the Halo universe AI can only live for a certain amount of time before they, in a sense, think themselves to death and Cortanas time is swiftly approaching.

The graphics have clearly had a polishing and the jungle environment looks more lush and tropical and Master Chief is shooting at more aliens than any other person known to man, but thats the thing, it’s just more Halo. Don’t get me wrong that’s what a lot of people want to see but after 8 games it’s pretty much more of the same. Like I said before we can only judge on what with seen, but what do you think?

Why did the Oxford dictionary chose that definition I hear you ask? No one had heard of Watch_Dogs, and so when they showed it at Ubisofts E3 showcase, all jaws hit the floor.

Ubisofts Montreal had been working on the game for two years prier to their E3 announcement, and the fact that no leaks happened is an achievement in its self.

Watch_Dogs is the story about how all technology is now connected and run by big corporations, however some people don’t like this, and a group of assassin like mercenaries try to break the system.

Although little is known about the game at this point, we do know that the main protagonist is Aiden Pearce, a man who has broken into Chicago’s “ctOS” (Central Operating System). Whilst it may look like a single player game it seems that multiplayer is intertwined due to the fact that towards the end of the demo, we see another character who looks like he is being played by another man on stage, a pop up task then sates a “group objective”. Check out the on stage play through here (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pw4rcRn0UTw&nomobile=1). We also know that the game will becoming to PC, X-Box 360 and Playstation 3.

If you are...

OH MY GOD IS THAT HOLLYWOOD MOVIE STAR ELLEN PAGE? If you are referring to the new “Beyond Two Souls” game then you would be correct, that is Ellen Page, however if you still think that Ellie from Last Of Us is Mrs Page, your still wrong.

After months of hushed whispers and closed sourced rumours, it has officially been announced that the next game from Quantic Dream, creators of the critically acclaimed Heavy Rain, will be Beyond Two Souls, a game that centres around the idea of death and what happens when we die, so nothing to emotional.

Ellen Page will play Jodie Holmes, a girl who has some sort of connection to the dead. In the game we will follow Jodie through a 15 year period of her life and experience every challenge that faces her.

We have seen some Gameplay and we must say it looks stunning! Think Heavy Rain, but have the graphics be even more beautiful and pixel perfect. It really is as visually excellent as the Kara tech demo, if not better.

The gameplay is almost parallel to Heavy Rain except for one major difference this time around. You also take on the roll of a ghost like spirit that is able to travel around and interact with the world differently to what Jodie can do, for instance the spirit can enter people bodies giving you the ability to control them.

The cinematic cut scenes are back in full force as well, and they still allow you to change the direction in which they go if you don’t correctly hit all the right buttons that you are expected to hit.

This really was one of the pinnacle games at E3 due to the fact that it was completely juxtaposed to everything else being shown, also the fact that some of Hollywoods finest actors are lending their talents to video games really shows how far video games has come and also, what the future looks like for the gaming industry.

And no Ellie from the Last Of Us still isn’t Ellen Page.

What do you think about Beyond?
Following these announcements, Nikkei (http://andriasang.com/con1b0/nikkei_nintendo_e3/) has two new announcements regarding Nintendo: a larger-screened 3DS (a 3DSXL as it were), which isn’t guaranteed to include the dual-analog sticks as believed (as the limited usage of the Circle Pad Pro doesn’t encourage it’s expenditure), and a 30,000 yen price point for the Wii U, which is around expectations. Additionally, the Wii U will include non-gaming content, such as a car navigator, books, and a karaoke service.

Nintendo’s not in bad shape going into E3. For many, the games of the new generation will decide the fate of the future console wars. If Nintendo will let me play Virtual Console titles on my GamePad as the TV plays other content, I’ll be fine.

Now if every game developer took that on board when making a game based on a movie, we would have a lot less games that go straight to the discount section, buts what that in the sky? Is it a bird? Is it a plain? No silly its your friendly neighbourhood “The Amazing Spiderman” tie in game.

By looks alone it seems that it could overcome the the dreaded curse of its previous movie tie in games and, well actually be good. This wouldn’t be the first time though, Spiderman 2 the game got rave reviews and gave you the closest feeling to being Spidey, also one of the best games ever , Golden Eye, was based on a movie, so that shows you that there not all bad.

Whilst this is not confirmed, it is expected that at the Sony conference they will finally reveal the games name and possibly the actor and actress taking on the lead roles, who have been reported to be “well know”.

Quantic Dreams last game was the critically acclaimed “Heavy Rain” and only recently have they shown us what they are able to do on the PS3 in the “Kara” technical demo. Quantic Dream have also stated that there next game will be centred around the idea of relationships, which still shows that they like to delve into real emotional plots.

If you ignore the Old Republic MMO, then you would find that the Lego series was perhaps the last good games associated with Star Wars. So what are they going to do to make you finally believe that a Star Wars game can be fun and doesn’t involve you having to dance around with Darth Vader I hear you ask? Well the answer could be having you play not as a Jedi but a bounty hunter in the deep, dark, underground regions of Coruscant in the new game Star Wars:1313

Lucasarts have said this is a more “mature” take on the Star Wars universe, so expecting to be breaking bones instead of Lego bricks.

Talking about feminism in games, what do you think about the new...

Talking about feminism in games, what do you think about the new Hitman Absolution trailer, do you agree with it or not?

After all the speculation and rumours, it has officially been...

After all the speculation and rumours, it has officially been announced that an Assassins Creed game is heading to the Vita in the form of Assassins Creed:Liberation. This time the protagonist is a female by the name of Aveline and isn’t a direct ancestor to Desmond Mills, unlike all the other Assassins in the previous games.

The game will be released on the same day as Assassins Creed 3, and will also be set in the same time period. The game will take place in New Orleans but will have other destinations that you will visit including New Mexico.

Photo

E3 BABY! Those beautiful words have been on our lips for quite a few months now, but with the biggest gaming event in the world only 3 days away, that phrase has been repeated more times than any other in the 2G1C office.
With a lot of triple A titles to be present at E3 there is a lot to write about, however there is one game in particular that we are looking forward to seeing. The new Tomb Raider game by Square Enix. This game had a debut last E3 and since then little has been heard about the game, until now.
Tomb Raider is set to be one of the games to see, and fingers cross play, at E3 due to the fact that this could be the game that puts the Tomb Raider series back on the top spot of the adventure gaming genre, after its overtaking by the Uncharted games.
What we have seen so far is that Lara is actually a real person, and not some Russian space gymnast who can do 5 double back flips whilst riding a bike. A darker and scarier world is also what awaits are young heroine, which is also the complete opposite to the picture postcard destinations that Lara saw herself visiting in her other games such as Underworld.
After watching the trailer you can clearly see why people are so excited to see this game at E3, it’s been a long time since a true epic Lara Croft game came out and hopefully this can be the game that bucks that trend.
Do you think Tomb Raider is going to be the best thing at E3? Send us your thoughts to our twitter @2games1c.

To describe Mass Effect in one word it would have to be epic,...

To describe Mass Effect in one word it would have to be epic, however this game is by no means perfect, but it is an emotional and intriguing end to the Mass Effect series.

The problem is that, like games such as Uncharted and Assassins Creed, the leap from the first to the second game was so huge that the next game could only disappoint. Don’t get us wrong we loved Uncharted 3 and Assassins Creed Brotherhood, they were fun and enjoyable outings but they didn’t have that same magnificent feeling you got from playing the games predecessors. Mass Effect 2 redefined the whole form of science fiction gaming and was a clear standout winner in that genre, however whilst Mass Effect 3 is pretty much more of the same, which isn’t a bad thing because it’s a winning formula, the overall experience will not leave you as amazed as you were when you played Mass Effect 2. But the game does still offer some outstanding moments.

The campaign this time puts you back in to the space boots of Commander Shepherd, but instead of trying to recruit a team to help you on a suicide mission, you are set the overwhelming task to try and get the whole of the universe on your side to take on the Reapers in an all-out win or lose war. This daunting task is put on to your shoulders, and there are huge definitive moments in which you have to choose which colony to back which makes the sense of regret and sadness monumental if you chose a certain chose and the outcome wasn’t what you expected. Trust us when we say think twice before you chose to do something.

Like Mass Effect 2, Mass Effect 3 has those jaw dropping, heart stopping, and mouth-watering moments. The best example of this is the last 10 minutes of the game, whilst we don’t want to give anything away, it may be the hardest decision you have ever made in a Mass Effect game. However this is my take on the ending, but a lot of others would disagree with my views. It’s been highly publicised that a lot of gamers weren’t happy with the ending, we understand why they would get annoyed due to the way in which the ending happens, but to us the ending suited the game perfectly.

Mass Effect 3 also knows how to pluck on the heart strings of the players by doing certain actions that will defiantly take you by surprise and maybe, if you really connected with certain characters, put a tear in your eye, which just shows how the Mass Effect series has connected with the fans.

One thing that did make the game at points boring and repetitive is the shear amount of enemies you face, notably on the final levels. We understand that Bioware is trying to show the huge amount of Reaper forces against your small armada and soldiers, but for us personally we turned the setting down to narrative so that we could move through killing the enemies fast and get back to the story driven parts of the game. This is quite a dramatic step to take but we didn’t want to be bugged down by having to waste time taking on the same enemies repeatedly.

Another point to be mentioned is the on release DLC; to me this should have either been a free DLC or simple just on the disk. To buy a brand new £40 game and to then be told you can pay an extra £10 to get more seems a bit unfair because it seems like you wouldn’t be getting the full ME3 experience.

That being said the campaign is still a shocking and beautiful tale and all the facing of enemies is worth it to experience the ending.

A new notable feature to this game is the multiplayer, which was properly why the game got delayed. Whilst on first announcement of this new add on, many gamers jumped to the conclusion that it was a bad thing and would ruin this previous single player experience, now after playing on it, the phrase don’t judge a book by its cover comes to mind because the multiplayer completely adds to the whole universe of Mass Effect and allows any one playing the game to see the game in a new light, and the ability to share your experience with friends is a bonus in our eyes. To be able to finally play as many of the races you have seen in Mass Effect is pure genius and undoubtedly fun, just seeing a Krogen shooting a Geth Machine whilst an Asari throws them in the air with her powers sounds unreal, and feels like it too. To put it frank we love the multiplayer and we believe it is one of the top shooters to play online due mainly to the fact that you are playing as this interesting and previously mysterious characters. Also Bioware have announced some free DLC which includes new characters, weapons and maps, which might be for them trying to make up for the controversy surrounding the ending or the on day DLC. Whatever it is anything that is going to add on to the online experience is a plus and will only make the amount of time you play on this game increase tenfold.

If all the negative points have put you off getting the game, trust us when we say were being picky. We love everything Mass Effect and our expectations could only be above what could actually be done. Mass Effect 3 is spectacular and a must play for anyone interested in the Mass Effect series, science-fiction or gaming itself. You must buy this game and play through its captivating campaign and magnificent multiplayer. It really is one step for man, and one huge step for Mass Effect kind.

SSX is back, and it came back with an almighty, avalanche making bang. All the memories you have of SSX Tricky are here with those crazy inhuman tricks, however this SSX, unlike its predecessors, is based more in reality. For instance the mountains that you ride are actual ranges which have been digitalised so that every slope, crevasse and Great Wall of China are exactly in the right geographical place, well maybe not the great wall.

A real achievement the team behind SSX have done is to make every surface on each and every slope board-able meaning you can snowboard on trees, Alaskan pipelines and the tops of caves if you so wish. The physics behind the game are boggling but it really does make the game flow more smoothly like the snow beneath your board. Another thing that adds to the smoothness of the game is the near inexistent load screens. Apart from the first load up, the wait between mountains is far and few between meaning that the rush of adrenalin you get from snowboarding down these mountains never stops, and you are always only seconds away from your next descent.

Another thing SSX does really well is create this spectacular sense of speed as you move down the slopes. It’s so realistic that at points your eyes will water from the non-stop momentum you receive from boarding down the icy mountain sides.

Now, moving on to the main part, which is the actual game itself. SSX is split in to 4 categories Conquer the Planet, Explore, Global Events and RiderNet. Conquer the Planet is the story of SSX and only last for 6-8 hours, which isn’t a bad thing because the main chunk of SSX is the online, and is a nice introduction into wait is to await. The story centres on team SSX trying to conquer the 7 deadly decent, each deadly decent is a mountain range and in each mountain rage a hand full of Trick it and Race it events are also involved. The deadly decent requires a certain character and equipment to complete it and each mountain has a different obstacle needed to be overcome whether it is ice, avalanches or um … trees. These missions allow for a different take on the game which are fun and enjoyable and make the game a bit COD on ice, but in this case it’s not a bad thing. However some of the missions in the campaign were a bit to, excuse the pun, tricky and we had to use the skip feature so that we could continue on.

Then we move to what this game is all about online. To say that SSX was a game which would have replay factor due to its online would be an understatement, the truth is that SSX has an online experience so thought out and intertwined it could have the possibility of running its own country, ok maybe not that good, but trust us it’s a lot of fun.

The first online pillar is the Explore mode. In here you are able to take on the other 150 drops on all the mountains and try to get your best times and highest Trick it scores, once you have one that you are proud of, your friends will be able to see it and try and beat that score. Although this has been done many a time before and is by no means original, the fact that you can do it on these mountains and are able to challenge friends on some breath-taking and death-defying slopes makes that feeling timeless and epic.

Global events is almost parallel to Explore but this time you’re not just taking on your friends, you’re taking on the world. At each of the drop off points you can enter in to an Event, some of which have a drop of fee whilst others don’t, they consist of either a Trick it, Race it or Survival missions. You then try and get a score which will put you into different pillars, with the higher the pillar the more money you get but the amount of people in that pillar goes down, for instance about eight people go into bronze pillar which will get you a small amount of money whilst only one person is in Platinum and they receive a huge sum of money. Once you have got a score which allows you to have the chance to win some money an alert is sent to the person you kicked out of that pillar, this then has the snowball effect of a to and fro between you and rival trying to get a higher score before the clock runs out and the event is over. This fun and frantic experience will make you reply the same drop over and over but still has that brand new felling as you try and find new paths to get the best result.

Keeping this online system running super smooth is RiderNet, which is like the Need for Speed auto log system. RiderNet is able to keep this online experience from going downhill faster than you can ski down it.

However good this game is there are something’s missing. SSX was known for its split screen and that function has been taken away also there is no real time multiplayer where you can actually see your friends ride down the slopes with you. To combat this EA said that RiderNet and the online functionality is able to connect you to your friends and play together, but the feature to do those things would have made this game even better, but you never, know an update could solve this.

That being said SSX is a blast and you won’t just put this game down after you completed the campaign, SSX lives and breathes online and you won’t have that experience if you don’t participate with others and get in to the SSX spirit. We hope to see you on the slopes

MORE ALIENS! EVEN MORE ALIENS!
From the look of the gameplay video the amount of aliens you will face will be on a mass effect style level, with at least 3 aliens per square inch at this rate. Some may say that this is to much, but can you have to many aliens? In my opinion, no, but we shouldn’t judge a book by its cover, in this case we shouldn’t judge the amount of aliens by a 10 minute gameplay video.

To describe Journey in one word it would have to be...

To describe Journey in one word it would have to be beautiful.Whilst you may think that every review you read says the same thing, it’s true, Journey is truly unlike anything you have played before for many reasons.
The first thing you release once you start Journey is that you don’t know what your suppose to do. Literally. There are no on screen instructions that tell you what to do apart from the normal use this stick to move and this stick to guide your camera, all you do is sit in the sand and make your way towards the only point that looks like it could be significant. Once you reach that point the camera pans out and you then see what your goal is in the game, to reach this mountain that has this ominous and all most majestic quality to it.
Whilst I don’t want to give to much away on the plot, I can say this, if you decide to buy the game you are going to have one of the most intriguing and touching experiences not just for a video game but in the media of entertainment itself. It really is that good.
One of the many things I enjoyed about journey is the intuitive multiplayer system. When playing the game you may see in the distance another cloaked figure like your self, if you wish to you can follow him and share your journey with this nameless being, if you don’t want a companion you can just ignore him and carry on in the game as a lone protagonist. This approach to multiplayer is fresh and unlike anything seen on a game, it allows you to feel connected to someone online unlike any game out there.
Another thing that Journey does so well is pacing. At some points in the game you may be just about to cross the edge in to boredom, when all of a sudden the game throws a curve ball at you and the thoughts of boredom are thrown out of you head faster that you can slide down a sand dune. This pacing is a lot more effective than in Uncharted 3 when walking up and down sand dunes got tiresome and boring, Journey has this magical timing unlike anything you’ve seen.
Although the game is marvellous it has a one bad point. I completed the game in one and a half hours, now I’m not saying its a bad thing because it is the perfect length for this game, however for the £10 price it does seem a bit steep. Yes there is reply factor defiantly, whether it be wanting to collect all the trophies or just going on the stunning journey again, but for something so short it does seem a tad pricy.
That being said you really should buy this game,it’s a truly moving piece which will take you on a journey as well as the character.

We would really love to hear your response to Journey and how you feel about it.
